What does "hope" mean to you? There are lots of different ways to define it. Author Annie F. Downs describes hope as "an anchor that roots us firmly in the Lord so that we don’t drift away". Hope can also be defined as “a feeling of trust” and “grounds for believing something good will happen.” I love these definitions! Now that we know what hope is, let's talk about how hope and praise fit together. Something that I find interesting here is that the Psalmist put "hope" and "praise" in the same sentence. Hope and praise go hand in hand. Praise reminds us that God is good, even when things don’t seem to be going our way. When we proclaim God's truth, (praise!) it makes it easier for us to believe he truly can do all of those things and that he will make something good happen (hope!). Love, A
